Matt Krueger-Andes

Family Law, Litigation, and Appeals

Matt is a seasoned, dynamic litigator who focuses his practice in the areas of family law, commercial litigation, and appeals.  He has represented clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies and ultra-high-net-worth individuals to smaller companies, start-ups, and individuals on a pro bono basis.  Matt is adept at guiding clients through complex litigation, whether it be in the context of a business dispute or family-related matters (or sometimes both).

Matt has been recognized as a “Super Lawyer” and “Rising Star” by North Carolina Super Lawyers, as a “Legal Elite” and “Young Gun” by Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite, and internationally in Doyle’s Guide Leading Family Lawyer Rankings – Charlotte, 2025. Matt was also recognized in the 2026 edition of The Best Lawyers in America. Matt has received numerous accolades both in the areas of Commercial Litigation and Family Law. Matt has also dedicated hundreds of hours of pro bono service and is a multi-time member of North Carolina’s Pro Bono Honor Society.

Prior to joining Krueger-Andes Law, PLLC, Matt was a senior litigation associate at a prestigious AmLaw 100 law firm, where he litigated complex, high-stakes commercial and tax disputes. Before that, Matt was a litigation associate at a large regional law firm.

Earlier in his career, Matt served as a judicial law clerk to the (now retired) Chief Judge of the North Carolina Business Court, the Honorable Louis A. Bledsoe, III, and the (current) Chief Judge of the North Carolina Court of Appeals, the Honorable Chris Dillon. Matt also clerked for the Honorable Robert N. Hunter, Jr. and the Honorable Cressie Thigpen, also of the North Carolina Court of Appeals.

After graduating law school magna cum laude, Matt attended New York University School of Law’s renowned LL.M. in taxation program, where he earned an LL.M. (masters in laws) and top “A” grades in several courses, including a thesis in the area of M&A taxation.

Matt applies his sophisticated commercial litigation and tax background to help his clients achieve the best results possible.

Family Law

Matt represents clients on domestic relations matters, including divorce, child custody and support, and equitable distribution.  Matt works with clients to find the most sensible, efficient, and cost-effective solutions, whether that means working collaboratively with the opposing party or, if the situation calls for it, litigating in court.  Either way, Matt crafts solutions that carefully account for the unique needs and circumstances of each individual client.   Matt is especially effective in divorces involving business interests and/or complex litigation, where he applies his extensive business litigation experience to guide clients through complex procedural and substantive matters.

Litigation

Matt has extensive experience litigating in both state and federal courts in North Carolina. Matt has litigated numerous disputes through all stages of litigation for clients ranging from individuals and small businesses to large, multinational corporations.  Matt is a former law clerk at both the trial and appellate levels and draws on this experience to develop effective litigation strategies for clients. Matt also has extensive experience in the North Carolina Business Court, where earlier in his career he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Louis A. Bledsoe, III.

Appeals

Matt represents clients before the federal and state appellate courts.  He has presented arguments before the North Carolina Court of Appeals, the North Carolina Supreme Court, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.  His extensive appellate experience includes overturning one of the largest North Carolina jury trial verdicts of 2015 and upholding the dismissal of a purported class action brought against a large financial institution.  Matt also formerly served as a law clerk to Judges Robert N. Hunter, Jr., Cressie H. Thigpen, and Chris Dillon, all of the North Carolina Court of Appeals. Matt draws on this appellate experience to effectively guide clients through the appellate process.
